The Dun & Bradstreet (D&B) integration

How Xapien uses your Dun & Bradstreet (D&B) licence to enrich Identify, company details, ownership structures, and risk signals in your reports.

Written by Lily Share

If your organisation has a Dun & Bradstreet (D&B) licence, Xapien can use it to bring D&B's verified corporate data directly into your reports - enriching everything from entity resolution in Identify, through to ownership structures, leadership profiles, and risk signals in the body of the report.

This article walks you through what the D&B integration adds to your reports, where you'll see it appear, and things to note.

ℹ️ Who is this for?

The D&B integration is available to customers on a Bring Your Own Licence (BYOL) basis - your organisation will need its own active D&B licence for the integration to be enabled.

To check whether D&B is enabled for your organisation, if you are an Enterprise or Pro customer please speak to your Customer Success Manager. If you are a Base customer please reach out to customer support.

What the D&B integration brings to your reports

Once enabled, D&B data is automatically incorporated into relevant reports across both Identify and the investigative process - no extra steps per report.

More accurate entity identification

D&B data feeds Identify, the step where Xapien resolves which entity you're researching. Standardised, verified company records improve entity resolution and produce clearer, more reliable matches when there are several similarly named organisations to choose between.

Deeper company intelligence

Expanded firmographic coverage in the report body, including:

  • Financials

  • Headcount

  • Industry classifications

  • Registered details

Corporate structures, ownership and control

D&B provides comprehensive parent-subsidiary hierarchies, traced all the way up to global ultimate ownership, alongside broader network relationships. You'll see:

  • Detailed shareholder and control structures

  • Parent and subsidiary chains

  • Wider network relationships beyond the immediate corporate group

This data also powers the interactive beneficial ownership graph in your organisation reports - see The beneficial ownership graph for how to navigate it, how percentages are calculated, and what's included in PDF exports.

Richer leadership profiles

Enhanced visibility of key individuals associated with an organisation, including their roles, responsibilities, and core biographical details.

Legal, financial, risk and ESG signals

Structured insight into:

  • Filings, insolvencies, legal actions, and other material corporate events

  • Supplier stability and broader risk exposure

  • ESG positioning

Network visibility for individuals

D&B's people-centric data lets you trace individuals across the businesses they're associated with - useful for source-of-wealth analysis and assessing affiliations.

Things to note

  • Source transparency - D&B does not currently provide a direct, linkable interface for the underlying records they supply. As a result, report citations sourced from D&B don't link out to an external source. A dedicated in-report D&B data viewer is in development to provide full transparency and traceability.

Limitations specific to the beneficial ownership graph (including PDF rendering) are covered in The beneficial ownership graph.
