To help you generate the most accurate and useful report, consider the following tips:
The Subject
Run the report using the name the subject is most commonly known by on the open-source internet. This could be an acronym of the organisation's name.
Example: Use “IBM” instead of “International Business Machines Corporation.”
Remove any legal suffixes from the name (e.g. LLC, PLC, Ltd), as these are often not included in online or media references.
The Context
Use context the organisation is most commonly associated with online.
A company’s homepage URL or LinkedIn profile often provides strong context.
You can add up to three pieces of context, but one is usually sufficient.
Adding more context won’t necessarily improve the report unless it’s needed to distinguish between entities with similar names.
Large Organisations
Generating reports on large organisations can prove more difficult, and may take the system longer to produce, due to the volume of publicly available information for collection.
If you would like to run a report on a large organisation - such as Amazon or Apple, which have many entities and subdivisions - we recommend narrowing your search to avoid ambiguity with any entities that sound similar.
For example, a report on Amazon might use "Amazon Inc" as the subject and reference the website amazon.com for context. (Here the inclusion of the legal suffix can offer better clarity during report generation).
