Editable Risk lets you manually override risk scores directly from a report, giving you control when Xapien's risk score needs adjusting. Risk scores become a starting point, not the final word.
This article walks you through how to override a risk score, what the Modified badge shows, and how Editable Risk interacts with onward research.
As part of this release, the header risk pill (from the Xapien Risk Framework) now sits in the Executive Summary of every report - that's where you'll find the pill you can override.
ℹ️ Who is this for?
Editable Risk is available to all non-API users. If an admin needs to prevent a specific user from editing risk levels, they can do this by setting that user to view mode.
ℹ️ Headline risk pills only
Editable Risk updates the headline-level risk pill at the top of a section. It does not change the underlying findings or any risk references within the body of the report.
How to override a risk score
Open the report and find the risk pill you'd like to change
Click the risk pill - a dropdown will appear
Select the new risk level you'd like to apply
A short 3-second save state begins. If you change your mind, you can cancel the change during this window
Once saved, a Modified badge appears on the pill so it's clear the risk has been manually adjusted
The Modified badge
A risk pill with a manual override carries a small Modified badge. Hover over the badge to see:
Who changed the risk score
When the change was made
This gives you a clear audit trail of any manual adjustments, so changes are explicit and never opaque.
Editable Risk and onward research
If you run onward research on a related entity after manually setting a risk score, Xapien will show a warning. This is because new findings from the onward research may update the risk - and could overwrite your manual change.
You can choose whether to proceed with onward research or hold off until you're ready for the risk to potentially shift.
Things to note
Headline risk pills only. Editable Risk changes the risk pill at the top of a section. The underlying sources, findings, and risk references in the body of the report stay as Xapien analysed them.
Every change is tracked. The Modified badge records who changed the risk score and when, so the original automated score and the override are always traceable.
Manual changes can be overwritten by onward research. If you re-run or expand the research and new findings affect the risk, your manual override may be replaced. Xapien warns you before this happens.
Available to non-API users. Editable Risk isn't currently available via the API. Admins can also restrict individual users by setting them to view mode.
