How to generate a report

Instructions on how to generate a report from your Xapien portal

Written by Lily Share

Running a report in Xapien is quick and works the same for a Person or an Organisation report.

1. Select whether you want to generate a new Person or Organisation report

You can run a report from two places in the Xapien portal:

  • The portal home page - After logging into your account, you will be taken to the Xapien portal home page, where you can select the type of report you would like to run.

To get back to the homepage, click on the Xapien logo in the top left corner of the portal.

  • The sidebar on the left of the Xapien portal - If you are browsing a report, or scrolling through the report centre, you can easily start a new report by clicking on 'New report' on the left sidebar.

From here you can select 'Person' or 'Organisation', depending on the type of report you would like to run.

2. Enter your subject's name and context

Once selected, you will be able to enter details of the person/organisation you wish to run a report on.

Start with your subject's full name and any related organisations or context. There are no restrictions on name or context terms, but we suggest including details that make the subject unique, such as:

  • Age

  • Nationality

  • Jurisdiction or country (e.g., “United Kingdom”, “Singapore”)

  • Company registration number or ID

  • Sector or industry (e.g., “retail”, “law firm”, “energy”)

  • Key individuals or associated companies (e.g., “John Smith, CEO of Barclays”)

  • Known relationships or roles (e.g., “subsidiary of Unilever”, “formerly with Deutsche Bank”)

The more context you give, the more accurately Xapien can identify the right entity.

Below the text box you can find examples of what you can enter for a good entity search.

Once you have entered all the details of your subject, click 'Lets find them' to kick-off identify.

Please note: when entering information about your subject, use punctuation to separate different items.

3.Identify - select the correct profile

Once the system has completed it's initial search, it will produce potential matches, with the strongest match at the top.

You can select your correct subject from this list of potential matches.

If the system has identified an exact match, this is shown by a green tick beside 'Exact match'.

If there are weaker profiles, these will be visible in a drop-down section under 'Show weaker profiles'.

4. Select your report template

Choose the report template which best suits your needs, and click 'Run report'

Your report will appear in the Reports tab once it has generated. You can navigate away from it while it runs.
